Pending the imminent return of full-blown articles on aspects of San Francisco, I am posting a series of photo blogs on different neighbourhoods. The first subject is Coit Tower, perched atop Telegraph Hill with wonderful views of the “necklace of bridges, Alcatraz and the bay on one side, and North Beach and the Financial District on the other. And there is another treat inside – the marvellous murals produced under the New Deal in the thirties.

If you want to learn more about the woman whose generous bequest funded this much loved San Francisco attractions, read my article at:

Hi Tony
Great post and awesome photos – looking at them while I’m in San Francisco makes them even better! Thanks so much for your lovely comment on my San Francisco trip blog post – lucky you coming here for a month! Me and my husband are on our first trip to SF (only 5 days) and we’ve completely fallen in love with the place. I’m setting a large portion of my next book here and I’m so glad I chose SF because it’s amazing! You have to see the light installation on the Bay Bridge when you come – it’s really magical! Have a great trip, I’ll be following your blog enviously… :o)

Hi Miranda, thank you for your kind comments. Sounds like you’ve left your heart in the city by the bay too! I have been a bit remiss on my blog since Christmas as I’ve been working on my first book – on cricket! You couldn’t get any further from San Francisco. As we (I am co-authoring it) are getting close to finishing the actual writing I can step back into the blog with a vengeance. Look out over the next week or two for more SF photo galleries and then some more substantial articles – all getting me in the mood for the trip in June!

Thanks for sharing these photos. I have never really been in San Francisco (airport transfers sure don’t count!). I have heard such good things about this city and I hope to be able to live there for awhile sometime in my life. Really depends on where my partner’s job takes us! Thanks for your comment on my blog.
Yes, you really must get yourself to SF sometime soon. In the meantime, there are plenty of articles and photos on my blog to whet your appetite! Thanks for your interest.
